I am here in Thailand and apparently bought a Malaysian spec MT09 which gave us a lot of problems during ECU tuning because they thought it was a Thai spec bike and there were some differences in the ECU flash files. The twitchiness in the lower rpm is as good as gone.Īnd yes, please check the ECU part numbers with the tuner.

That being said, after putting my bike on the dyno and getting my air to fuel ratio to an optimal level the bike feels completely different. Since the fuel consumption of the MT09 was horrible already I decided to leave it on. I personally left the cut fuel on deceleration enabled since my tuner told me that it will also greatly affect fuel consumption. (note: disabling the fuel cut will decrease your engine breaking performance as well). This function can be disabled when getting your ECU flashed so that when you go off throttle the injectors keep feeding a small amount of fuel to the cylinders. On top of that MT09s cut the fuel when you are off the throttle which makes the bike extremely twitchy in the lower rpm range. If you put on another exhaust and/or air filter on the bike, this will become even worse. The MT09 runs pretty lean air to fuel ratio from stock in the lower rpm range already (this to make it pass emission testing). The twitchy throttle response is mostly caused by 2 things: bad air to fuel ratio and the fact that MT09 has a function called "Cut fuel on deceleration".
